The Sinochem Headquarters Tower, currently under construction in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei Province, is situated in Plot 001 of the Start-Up Zone, standing as one of the iconic landmarks of the region. The structure rises to a height of 150 meters, with a total floor area of 112,000 square meters—82,000 square meters above ground and 30,000 square meters underground. The tower comprises 31 stories, complemented by a 5-story podium. The project is expected to be completed and operational by June 2025.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm SOM in collaboration with Beijing V-Time Architecture, the tower draws inspiration from the natural landscape of Xiong'an—the "golden reeds" of Baiyangdian Lake. Its sleek, open, and elegant form, with a clustered, upward-growing silhouette, symbolizes corporate growth and prosperity. The crown of the tower features a double-curved, unconventional "peony flower" structure, composed of 16 external steel columns, eight sets of petal components, and a central stamen—totaling 64 meticulously crafted elements. The heaviest single component weighs 11.5 tons, with precision assembly achieved through 3D modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) technology.
Sinochem Tower employs a high-performance thermal envelope with advanced heat recovery ventilation to minimize energy use while maximizing renewables. Fixed southern sunshades reduce cooling loads while maintaining aesthetics. The building integrates 1,400㎡ of rooftop PV panels, achieving a 45.53% renewable energy utilization rate. The project holds both China Green Building Three-Star and LEED Platinum certifications.
LOPO China supplied four types of custom-shaped terracotta rods for this project, primarily applied to the front and rear façades decorations of the podium. The terracotta battens interlock with each other, forming a lightweight grid-like surface in front of the glass curtain wall. The beige-toned terracotta façade resonates with the "reed" architectural concept of the tower's design, adding a rich layer of detail to the overall building.
